Waratah Hockey Club (Tahs) is one of the oldest and the most successful hockey club in the Northern Territory!
We offer teams for both males and females, from Under 8s (age 5+) to Premier League, and focus on making hockey a sport that is enjoyable, inclusive, and accessible to all.
Tahs offers some of the most competitive fees in the Darwin Hockey League to encourage our goal of social inclusion and accessibility across the community.
Our club provides a fun, friendly and safe environment for hockey players and their families of all ages and abilities!
FREE Come & Try Sessions in 2025
Want to come & try hockey for the first time?
Already a hockey player but deciding on which club to join?
We have free family friendly come and try sessions, no strings attached, open to all ages and abilities from adults, kids, new to hockey, and experienced players! We provide all the equipment, just bring yourself with enclosed shoes and a water bottle.
A club run BBQ will be at all sessions for everyone to enjoy.

Come & Try Session 1
Saturday 22 February 2025
9AM – 1PM
Darwin Waterfront
A come and try will be set up on the grass to try a few drills and meet the club! A BBQ will be available for participants to enjoy.
Come & Try Session 2
Saturday 1 March 2025
8AM – 10AM
Marrara Hockey Centre
Get a feel for the hockey turf and participate in some great drills and fun activities catered to everyone! A morning BBQ will be available to all attendees.
Come & Try Session 3
Saturday 8 March 2025
9AM – 1PM
Darwin Waterfront

Why become a Tahs junior player?
Upon joining Waratahs, all new junior players receive a FREE playing shirt!
All junior players can also receive a free mouthguard through this NT Government initiative.
A new junior (under 13) will also receive a FREE stick pack! This includes 1x:
- stick bag
- hockey stick
- pair of shin pads
- hockey ball

The season runs from April – August.
Junior games are held on Saturdays at the Marrara Hockey Centre. Games begin the week of 4 April 2025.
Juniors train every Wednesday 5:30PM – 6:30PM, starting 26 March 2025.
Why become a Tahs senior player?
With the most competitive fees and teams in the Darwin Hockey League, Tahs is a successful club with a great community and culture that encourages having fun, inclusivity, mateship, and personal growth!

There are 3 divisions in for both male and female senior sides. From Premier League, B Grade, to C Grade.
The season runs from April – August.
Senior games are held on the weekend (Fri – Sun) and vary day and times each week. Games are played at the Marrara Hockey Centre and begin the week of 4 April 2025.
Seniors have skills/turf training every Wednesday, starting 12 March 2025 at the Marrara Hockey Centre.
- Senior Women train 6:30PM – 7:30PM.
- Senior Men train 7:30PM – 8:30PM.
Seniors can also participate in fitness training sessions tailored to hockey players, every Tuesday 5:45PM starting 5 March 2025.
