Umpiring in 2023
This season, Hockey NT will arrange the umpiring for A Grade and Junior games in the Darwin Hockey League. The clubs are required to supply umpires for B Grade and C Grade games. Each club has been allocated games to umpire. Waratahs has created a roster to fulfill our umpiring obligations (available here). Players in senior teams have been included on the roster. (The only members that are excluded from the roster are coaches, senior managers and committee members and players that are new to hockey).
If you are unavailable or unwilling to do your own umpiring, you can arrange for someone else to do it for you. If you decide to pay that person, this is entirely a private matter and the Club will not be held responsible for any related payments. If you do decide to pay someone, we suggest a fee of between $40 and $50.
There will be no payment from HNT or Waratah Hockey Club for fulfilling your umpiring commitment.
What happens if you do not fulfil your commitment?
If you do not fulfill your obligation (by either umpiring yourself or arranging for an alternative person to do it), any fine issued by Hockey NT will be passed onto you for payment. There are provisions in the rules for the loss of competition points for the team that does not provide an umpire.
